S.A.R. REPORT

Report Number: #00293-576-38
Report Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Request by: Dr Howard Frost, ID████████
Report by: Paul Sanders, ID████████

SUMMARY

Studies of the door’s physical dimensions, appearance and build have confirmed that its current construction complies with UK safety regulations, hereby referred to as RRFSO (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. 2006). This would allude to the doors construction being within the UK, with a date of construction anywhere between 2006-2017. The exact date cannot be pin-pointed at this time due to conflicting lab results.

According to the RRFSO, a width of 1067mm indicates that the door was built to provide an emergency exit for a single area (room or building) that has/had the capacity of 220 persons. It is not possible to determine what kind of venue the door was originally built for; If the door had been the sole emergency exit, it could accommodate a music venue, one cinema or stage auditorium, large restaurant or small supermarket. However, had it been one of many emergency exits, it could have been attached to a shopping mall, office or education building.

Visual observations have concluded that the door was constructed to be attached to the exterior of a building. With the orientation of the door hinges, and the absence of any handle, it is surmised that the Foundation side is considered the outside, or designated safe zone.

The lack of handle is standard as external emergency exits within the UK cannot be locked at any time, and must therefore be built to provide adequate security - a lack of handle to deny outside intruders is one such method.

One 40cm diameter sign is positioned at average eye-level on the door’s surface. The sign is blue with a white border, large white exclamation mark and white text. Text depicts the words "Emergency Exit. KEEP CLEAR." in English. This is standard for external emergency exits in the UK.

Anomalous Properties:

SCP-XXXX has the ability to connect to, and provide a one-way emergency escape via, any other doorway on the planet.

To do this, the subject has the ability is to absorb various forms of energy, such as radiant thermal energy from the containment cell, radiant electromagnetic energy from the lights and kinetic energy via physical contact. The energy that it absorbs is then converted into potential energy through an unknown method of energy transfer, which is stored within it’s physical form. During this period, the subject is described as being within it's passive state.

When the subject has absorbed an as-of-yet unknown amount, it will enter it's active state. During this state it will detect various forms of danger within an unknown radius. Upon locating a desired target that match unknown parameters, SCP-XXXX will transfer stored potential energy into kinetic energy and open. Upon opening, SCP-XXXX will also transfer potential energy into another unknown form, and will connect to a doorway within the vicinity of its target, providing an escape exit for the person(s) fleeing danger.

The period of rest between each of these events can vary, however it is theorised that the 'connection' requires a large amount of this unknown energy. Should the subject not absorb enough 'charge' to perform another connection immediately after an active event, it will go dormant and continue to absorb radiant energy nearby until it has enough again. It is also theorised that these anomalous properties have been made possible due to the material that SCP-XXXX is made from.

LABORATORY REPORT

Report Number: #00293-576-38
Report Date: xx/xx/xxxx
Request by: Dr Howard Frost, ID████████
Report by: Dr Ranathan Monash, ID████████

SUMMARY

The door, frame and hinges of subject have a visual resemblance to standard materials used in structures of this kind. These materials would include steel, aluminium, galvanised zinc, Gypsum or even Vermiculite (due to their heat resistant properties). However, chemical analysis of samples from the subject do not match these materials or other known periodic elements.

Samples were observed to absorb heat of 400°C (in excess of what the mentioned materials are known to withstand), show complete resistance to acidic and alkaline substances (alluding to a chemically neutral structure), did not conduct electricity or even reflect light (regardless of intensity), and did not permit the transmission of sound. Samples also withstood 9.7 Richters of seismic activity - testing for a higher threshold is on hold as current equipment cannot facilitate this.

While the subjects physical appearance alludes to a solid, microscopic analysis indicates that the subject's state of matter closely resembles a gas or liquid. This suggests that the subject is made from an unknown material that more closely resembles Crystal Liquid (e.g. glass). Further analysis of samples provided results that could be linked with research on Photonic Molecules and the Jahn-Teller effect, though confirming these theories would require a considerable period of extended research.

If these theories are to be believed, and possible, then there is a form of unmeasurable matter or energy acting upon the molecular structure of the subject (i.e. in the way dark matter and dark energy acts upon celestial bodies).

The sign is made of standard plastic with ink print and does not match findings from the main body of the subject.

Frost, I’m aware it’s unlike me to make additional notes within an official document, however due to the complex nature of our findings it is my professional opinion that direct testing of the subject could perhaps provide more conclusive results. Please see myself or my colleague Dr. Benjamin in person should you wish to proceed ~ Ran

Addition #1, 18/01/2018: During passive state, thermal imagery shows subject's standing temperature matches physically similar objects in identical atmospheric conditions. During active state, thermal imagery has shown subject to reach temperatures between -85°C and 890°C. Subject will then cool down to standing temperature at a rapid rate that defies similar objects in similar conditions.

Addition #2, 18/01/2018: During active state, seismic sensors show the subject exhibiting a vibration that increases in intensity prior to opening. The vibration has consistently started at 220 seconds prior to the subject opening. The gradient at which the vibration increases matches the curvature of any temperature changes. While a standard vibration is usually accompanied by sound, the subject is shown to illicit no noise when experiencing this phenomena.
